A group of Boy Scouts from St. Johnsbury will be camping out in Bandstand Park in Lyndonville Friday night.
The Burklyn Arts Council will have tents set up on Friday for its annual crafts fair on Saturday. Last year, vandals cut several tent ropes, which had to be replaced, costing several hundred dollars, according to Burklyn trustee Susan Gallagher. The tent company had to come from Newport to replace the ropes the next morning, which delayed setting up for the fair, Gallagher said.
Burklyn trustee Bob McCabe came up with the idea to ask the Scouts to spend the night in the park to protect the tents and other items. McCabe could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Kellogg said about five Scouts and two adult leaders will be camping. He said he plans to invite Scouts from Lyndonville to join them.
Gallagher said she appreciates "this great community service" the Scouts are providing.
